Homer consists of a master node + 6 compute nodes, each with dual 3.0 GHz Intel Xeon 5160 Woodcrest processors (dual core, 64-bit) and 8 GB of memory per node. This makes for a total of 24 compute cores. The master node has a 3 TB RAID 5 array, which is NFS mounted on all compute nodes.
Homer is running Fedora Core 5.
The nodes are connected with Gigabit ethernet. MPICH is used for interprocessor communications. The default compilers are GCC 4.1, which includes the gfortran Fortran 95 compiler.
Homer was configured and built by Aspen Systems.
